Zhang Ziyi as Chun-Li & Psylocke
One of my all-time favorite real life babes as two of my all-time favorite fantasy babes. I don’t know who photoshopped either of these, but I like the way they think.
(Although I did remove the background from the Chun pic because it was kind of ugly distracted from the image itself).

All-Time Favorite Things: Same Difference by Derek Kirk Kim
Just re-issued as a sweet hardcover from First Second! This book is not only one of Jon’s All-Time Favorite Indies, it also won Eisner, Harvey and Ignatz awards :p
Shout outs to First Second for cornering the market on Cool Indie Books by Cool Asian Guys excluding Adrian Tomine.
All-Time Favorite Things: Road Rash
Following Street Fighter, my second favorite game series might be Road Rash — culminating with Road Rash 3DO lol. For those who never heard of this game (or of a 3DO — not worth remembering really), the point is this — it’s a high-speed racing game, with fighting.
As you race through (super awesomely detailed) cities on motorcycles, you can punch or kick other racers off their bikes, into walls or oncoming traffic. There were also cops on motorcycles who would chase you down and beat you with their billy clubs. Fortunately could fight with cops too, sometimes stealing their billy club. Naturally if you stole a weapon from a cop or any your fellow racers, you could proceed to use it to beat them with their own shit. Smacking people with the chain was always fun, and effective.
Of course, while you’re trying to avoid and overtake the other racers, you also have to watch out for other obstacles — like pedestrians and oncoming traffic. The former are obviously fun to run over, even though it slows you down. Running into the latter would launch your body head first into a painful tumble that never ceased to be funny. Then your character would automatically run back to your bike (sometimes getting hit by more traffic or other riders) and the race would be back on.
Road Rash was the kind of concept where you’re surprised nobody else thought of it beforehand. I’m also kind of surprised it never made a comeback on a next gen machine, especially since I’m pretty sure it was an EA game — but maybe it did and I just never knew, possibly because they sucked and didn’t recapture the magic of the old school versions.
All-Time Favorite Things: Marvel vs Capcom 2
IT’S MAHVEL, BABY!
I can’t tell you how many Friday nights I spent at Chinatown Fair playing MVC2 and CVS2 (my two favorite games ever). Funny thing is, I remember SmoothViper being the *really* loud one. Yipes I remember mostly because he perfected me, on more than one occasion lol. (Do you know how hard it is to get a perfect? I mean, you can’t even block an assist…)
Anyway, MVC2 is the shit. MVC3, not so much. I recently showed this vid to my roommate. It was like culture shock :s
RIP Chinatown Fair (NYC) and Gametime (VA).
All-Time Favorite Things: Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High
I was actually looking for a vid to post, but then you have Judge Reinhold (or whatever the jerk-offs name is) interrupting the flow of the whole scene :/ Not to mention cheesy background music.
Still pictures like this is more how it works in my memory. Sweet Phoebe rising in slow-mo out of the pool. Sigh. I think I was in love right then and there — and that was before I even knew it was was going to be a topless scene lol.
There’s really no way I could make an All-Time Favorite Things section and not include this scene.
EVO 2011: Poongko vs Daigo.
I was there for this! The crowd was NUTS. Poongko was my favorite going in, and I was hardly the only one rooting for him — he had the entire room after chugging the Red Bull.
All-Time Favorites: Daigo vs Justin Wong (EVO 2004)
Since I reached my upload limit for the day so I’ll take the opportunity to add to my All-Time Favorite Things on the Internet Ever section. And isn’t this one on everyone’s list?
Ultimate Spider-Man covers by Kaare Andrews. I AM I love Miles Morales. Bendis & Pichelli are kicking so much ass on this book.
I actually just recommended this book to a black family who was in the store with their kid :)
PS: did you know Midtown Comics has an exclusive Ultimate Spider-Man symbol t-shirt?
Poster I did for the free Ultimate vs Capcom 3 tournament I organized for Midtown Comics. I was pleased with how this turned out.
The tourney was pretty successful too. 60 entrants, live stream, drinks, free games, and a surprisingly hype Grand Finals with two guys who had Haggar on point. And the guy who won it all used Arthur :O
I actually got interviewed on SRK about the tourney too:

Looking forward to setting up Midtown Mashfest #2 in January :D
